Bike rally taken out to create breast cancer awareness

Hyderabad: AIG Hospitals along with the Road Thrill Organisation, a non-profit social community of bikers and travelers and Bikerni, an exclusive all-women bikers club, organised the AIG Pink Ribbon Rally to create breast cancer awareness among people. Over 200 bikers including AIG Hospitals' staff and doctors participated in this 25-km bike rally. November is observed as breast cancer awareness month.

The objective of the rally is to raise awareness about the impact of breast cancer in our society. Incidence of breast cancer has been steadily increasing in our country and currently it is the most common form of cancer among women. The rally strived to spread the word about importance of early diagnosis and community screening programs.

"Public awareness plays a significant role in combating these health challenges like breast cancer within our societies. We should encourage and participate in various activities that are able to bring the attention towards the pertinent health concerns," Dr D Nageshwar Reddy said while flagging off the AIG Pink Ribbon Rally.

"It has been scientifically proven that increasing awareness about breast cancer in the community helps in early diagnosis and leads to greater patient outcomes. When breast cancer is treated at an early stage, the disease is completely curable," said Dr Kausik Bhattacharya, Director and Head of Department, Radiation Oncology, AIG Hospitals.

"For us, these awareness initiatives are social responsibilities that we must undertake. We are glad to associate with AIG Hospitals for this awareness drive and it was heartening to see the enthusiasm amongst the doctors and staff for such noble cause," said Manish Khandat, team leader, Road Thrills, Hyderabad.
